Cutting Machine
What can you tell me about the Cricut personal cutting machine … for scrapbooking, etc.?

I'm looking to get one for my wife for Christmas, but I have very little info about it. How long do they last under normal wear? Is she going to have to spend a fortune maintenance (blades, carpets, paper, etc.)? How many cartridges are required to be able to offer some variety in the manufacture functional cards, and scrapbooking? Any and all responses will be most appreciated. Thank you

I drooled over this thing and have almost bought several times. Here is my problem with it: I do not mind the initial price for her and the couple "free" you get with the cartridges, but all other cartridges cost $ 50 each, as .. thats a lot of money! The blades are reasonable … but the cartridges are not. And you can not use a coupon on them at any craft store I've seen. At the very least, she really needs at least one alphabet and perhaps a cartridge with a certain substance swirly, and perhaps a holiday. Certainly the alphabet is a must have. I ended up buying the Cuttlebug Die Cutter and Embosser. It is more restrictive, but you can get many forms alphabets, etc. For $ 500 you can get and MIRIAD Cuttlebug embossing plates and cutting.
